May: multinational hiking

May was a full month. I had about two full weeks, then I went to the US for a week and a half, then the day after landing back in Zurich I left again to go spend a long weekend with Dani in Lauenen with his yoga squad. Lauenen will be a follow up post because I also bought another camera...

More Alpstein

May is one of those weird months in Europe where you have the same random midweek day off every other week the whole month. This year we were blessed with having Thursday off every other week, starting with Thursday, May 1st. We had a larger than usual squad of gays plus two hets (straights) hike Wasserauen to Seealpsee to Schäfler ridge to Ebenalp.

I brought my XPan, as well as a Reto ultra wide and slim, which is effectively a reloadable disposable camera with an ultrawide lens.

Kentmere 200

Harman came out with their new black and white film, Kentmere 200. I picked up a couple rolls and shot them through the month.

I really like it, especially the glow around the highlights. I do want to shoot more black and white but it's hard to give up color this time of year.

Niederbauen Kulm

Once again, a larger than usual group (of gays obviously) walking up from Emmetten to Niederbauen Kulm. I decided to switch it up and only brought my Contax T2, along with my last roll of Fuji industrial 100, which really looked amazing.

Seattle and Portland

I had ~9 days modulo timezones on the west coast, and I wound up shooting a bunch of film somehow.

Seattle

I flew into Seattle for work, and also met up with two of my cousins who helped me stay awake and get over jet lag.

Over the four days I had in Seattle, I shot a roll of Wolfen NC500 in the M7 with the 35mm biogon, but I can't say I love any of the pics except for the ones of my cousins

Portland

My cousin and I then drove down to Portland to meet my parents and my sister.

I had ordered a Minolta Riva Panorama, which is one of those old point and shoots with the gimmicky panorama feature where it masks the top and bottom third of the frame. The extra gimmicky thing about this camera is that it ONLY shoots panorama, and it has the same focal length as my XPan. A point and shoot XPan! what more could you want.

Mom: we have XPan at home

I also reconnected with my daughter, who I had not seen in almost a year:

Oregon coast

We did a day on the Oregon coast. I shot a bunch of weird film in my M7 and a bunch of I want to say fuji 200 in the Minolta.

Hamilton Mountain

Shot a partial roll of Fuji 200 walking up Hamilton Mountain

Misc Portland snaps

Some other miscellaneous snaps, mostly testing the Minolta, around Portland.

Wow, that wasn't even all of May...
